Grand GOP Happenings
2024 Ballot Initiatives Voter Guide
‘G’ – expansion of property tax exemption for more veterans – We support vets but have doubts that this will really help as presented. We are neutral on this issue—vote as you see fit.
‘H’ – create a new Judicial Discipline board – proposed to improve this process, but we are also leery of new boards chosen by the governor and will increase spending tax $. We are neutral on this issue—vote as you see fit.
‘I’ – provides for no bail for murder charges. We recommend a ‘YES’ vote. Local law enforcement also supports this issue.
‘J’ – definition of marriage. This is already in CO law. This change will eliminate wording that currently exists in the State Constitution. We are the party of individual freedom—please vote your conscience on this issue.
‘K’ – shortens election deadlines. This just makes it more difficult for ordinary people to participate in the election process. We recommend a ‘NO’ vote.
‘79’ – Constitutional Abortion—while this is already in state statue, this change would allow tax $ to be used to fund abortion. We recommend a ‘NO’ vote.
‘80’ – provides for School Choice. In Colorado we already have school choice, this could have a negative impact on the state funding for public schools. We are neutral on this issue—vote as you see fit.
‘JJ’ – increases state taxes on sports betting. We are opposed to more taxes on anyone. We recommend a ‘NO’ vote.
‘KK’ – imposes taxes on firearm and ammunition sales. We are opposed to more taxes on anyone. We recommend a ‘NO’ vote.
‘127’ – would prohibit mountain lion hunting. Hunting is a necessary part of wise game management and provides valuable income to Grand County citizens. We recommend a ‘NO’ vote.
‘128’ – would add parole restrictions in cases of violent crime. We support victims of crime. We recommend a ‘YES’ vote.
‘129’ – would relax licensing requirement for veterinary service providers. We recommend a ‘NO’ vote.
‘130’ – increases funding for law enforcement. While we support law enforcement, we are doubtful these funds will actually provide any $ to Grand County. Local law enforcement and we join to oppose this issue. Recommend a ‘NO’ vote.
‘131’ — imposes ranked choice voting. This proposal would essentially eliminate the two-party system that ensures a choice of candidates representing a variety of political positions. We recommend a ‘NO’ vote.
‘Grand County 1A’ –increases lodging taxes on hotels, but in turn allows the County Commissioners additional discretion to direct lodging taxes to be used for other tourism impacts rather than strictly advertising. We are neutral on this issue—vote your principles on this one.
